Erotic Romance: More Than Just Sex by Anna Lores

Today, my friend Anna Lores stopped by to talk about her Erotic Romance, Ella's Triple Pleasure, which is featured in an International Promotion by BookBub in April.

Since there's a special promotion going on,  Ella's Triple Pleasure will be on sale until April 30 for only 99 cents.

What Is Erotic Romance

A lot of readers think Erotic Romance and Erotica are the same thing, but, in actuality, they're not. Erotic Romance is sometimes called Romantica. Anna said that most people think Erotic Romance is about nothing but sex. Here's what she had to say about this perception.

Erotic Romance: Just Sex…Or Something More?
by Anna Lores

A good story is a good story is a good story. We’ve all heard it. But what about those genres that allow a reader to go into the bedroom with the characters? Do they have a story attached to the love scenes?

As an erotic romance writer, there is a wide assumption that the only thing I write is sex. That just isn’t true. Now, don’t get me wrong, I take readers into the character’s homes, and specifically into their bedrooms for some steamy scenes, but a compelling love story is what takes them there.

We all have hopes and dreams, successes and failures, and so do the characters in my erotic novels.

The love story is the main focus of each of my novels, and the complexity of real life carries through to each of the characters.

The earth doesn’t stop spinning because a person is living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to get out of debt, or when one random problem turns into a dozen. Life continues on. But, in an erotic romance novel, a bright side arrives, and with that – similar to real life – hope, love, and yes, smoking hot sex.

An interesting story is the foundation of every romance novel and what pulls us in, takes us on a ride, and lets us celebrate the happily ever after, which is the hallmark of a romance novel.

So, yes, I write sex scenes that might make readers fan themselves to cool off, but, just like a traditional romance, a solid story with heart and reality mixed in. That's the driving force of any erotic romance I pen, as well.

A good story is a good story is a good story – whether that's sweet romance, mystery, or erotic romance.

Takeaway Truth

Readers, if you'd like to sample an erotic romance, grab a copy of Ella's Triple Pleasure while it's on sale for only 99 cents!

    1. Thank you so much, C.B.! Erotic romance and erotica are often misunderstood, so I'm happy to talk about the differences in the genres. Thanks for stopping by and visiting.

  3. Good afternoon, Joan and Anna :) I'm so happy to see this topic addressed, and handled with such beautiful clarification :) I've experienced a little "kick-back" in my early writing where some erotic scenes occurred in the stories. I tried explaining much the way you have, Anna. So, it's great to see the topic on a well received blog such as SlingWords. Some genre's require the door be closed, others want the door cracked open, allowing a glimpse inside a more private world. Loved the post and the book looks gorgeous! Of course, I'm darting in to download :) Good luck with sales, gal!

I was thrilled to write about this often misunderstood topic and talk about the genre I love to write. Having the opportunity to write about it on Joan Reeves' SlingWords is icing on the cake.

The beauty of romance is that there is something for everyone whether a reader is interested in Inspirational and sweet or steamy and erotic. As long as "romance" is the genre, you're guaranteed a central love story AND an HEA whatever the heat level!

    1. You represented your work eloquently, Anna. Everyone needs to understand that there is a difference between the two genres. Today, I posted on my FB author page about why I write happy endings: because I'm an optimist who believes there is always light at the end of the darkest tunnel. Good luck with your book!

  5. Thank you, Joan. I appreciate you opening up your blog to discuss the difference between the two genres. And I love your answer to why you write HEA's. As a fellow optimist, my belief follows the same path. Hugs and thanks for having me.
