Today's Saturday Share Recipe coudn't be any easier, and 5 Star Italian Bread is so good you'll want to make it again and again.

Actually, this Italian bread begins life as a loaf of French Bread.

Add some extra ingredients, and voila! You end up with a hot baked loaf of crusty Italian seasoned bread that will make your mouth water.

If you want to prepare 2 loaves of this, you can freeze one for later.

 Ingredients

1 loaf of French bread.

1 stick of softened butter

8 ounces shredded mozzarella

1/2 cup mayonaise (not the fat-free stuff)

6 green onions finely chopped

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or more to taste

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, more if you love garlic

Directions

1. Mix all of the ingredients together.

2. Split the loaf of bread in half lengthwise.

3. Spread the butter mixture over both halves.

4. Place split loaves on a baking sheet.

5. Bake at 350°F (176°C) until the spread is melted and browned. About 7-10 minutes depending on your oven.

6. Serve hot from the oven.

7. Wrap in foil and store any leftovers—but there probably won't be any.
