5 Random Thoughts on a Gray Day

I'm sitting here, looking at another gray day, and wishing it were mid-March with spring doing its magical rebirth thing.

Here are some random thoughts flitting through my mind.

1. Why is it when we need rain, we suddenly have 2 weeks of solid rain flooding freeways, ruining homes, and drowning people?

2. Why do they say, nice weather for ducks when it's raining?

We have ducks on our lake, and they never frolick in the rain. They hunker down under the bushes.

3. Why does the Morton Salt company use the slogan: When it rains, it pours? When it rains here, the salt clumps up unless you put grains of rice in the shaker.

4. If you're going to have car trouble, why does it always happen on the rainiest, coldest, or hottest day of the year?

5. Why do weeds continue to proliferate in droughts, floods, and winter storms, but grass, shrubs, and flowers die painful deaths—painful for me knowing I'll have to spend a lot of money to replace them.

Takeaway Truth

Why am I sitting here writing this when I should be writing? Procrastination is often a daily affliction for writers.
