I've been arranging all the final details so I can escape for a week or so. The house sitter arrives in the morning, and we'll leave shortly afterwards for the mountains.
I have a book that I hope to finish this winter that's set in a remote wilderness area in the mountains. I need some more background information and want to take photographs.
I was thinking about everything I've done the last few days. Seriously, it's amazing how many things I accomplished.
I think the quote from Zig Ziglar is spot on: “Isn’t it amazing how much stuff we get done the day before vacation?”
Even though I'll be combining work with vacation—I must have the draft of this book finished by the end of July—it will still be good to get away.
Can't wait to finish this novel manuscript. While it "rests," I'll be able to dive into writing a novella that's also due in the fall.
Ack! Too many too-close-together deadlines.
Takeaway Truth
Now to finish the quote from Earl Wilson that is excerpted as the title of today's short post: “A vacation is what you take when you can no longer take what you’ve been taking.”
Amen!
