I've been so busy I haven't shared any excerpts with SlingWords readers so I'm remedying that today.
Here's an excerpt from Episode 1 aka Chapter 1.
The first 3 chapters or episodes are free to read. Just use the Kindle app on your cell phone or read on your computer.
This is a humorous small town mystery wrapped around a romance.

Episode 1: Hell Hath No Fury...Blah, Blah, Blah
Excerpt 1
Some woman’s love life might resemble a romance novel, but that woman isn’t me. No hero with a billion bucks in the bank, undying love burning in his heart, and the equipment and stamina of a Clydesdale on Viagra lurks on my horizon.
Even before I’d moved from Houston back to Dullasville, Louisiana—or Dullsville as we citizens fondly, and not so fondly, call it—I’d begun to doubt such a man existed in reality. Like too many single women though, I kept searching.
If my prospects for lasting male companionship had been meager before arriving in Dullsville on a scorching July day four months ago, they were now so low a Las Vegas bookie would give better odds on the Kardashian sisters giving away their respective fortunes and joining a nunnery than on me, Marty Tucker, hooking up with the perfect man and living happily ever after.
“You know what your problem is?” asked the blond-haired, blue-eyed lawyer I’d been dating for a month.
I sighed. Instead of Mr. Right, I keep finding Mr. Maybe. As a result, my attitude about men swings like a pendulum between desperation and resignation depending on my hormonal state and my level of satisfaction with life.
“Well, do you?” asked the current incarnation of Mr. Maybe who stared belligerently at me.
Even if he was foolhardy enough to tell me, it didn’t matter. As they say on the myriad talking head shows cluttering daytime television, I had grown as a person.
Rather than maiming him when he opened his mouth to catalog my faults, I decided to merely tune him out. You see, I think beautiful men should be seen and not heard, and Mr. Maybe was gorgeous. If supermarkets stocked men, he’d be shelved in the candy aisle.
He jabbed his index finger at me. “You’re just jealous.”
That statement and the finger stabbing the air in front my face made me face the truth. I hadn’t grown as much as I’d thought because I wanted to grab his finger and teach him how rude he was being. I started looking around for a projectile to dent his too-perfect profile. Why was there never a blunt instrument lying about when you really needed one?
