Learn New Skills Free

Time for Make Things Happen Monday!

Do you know the secret to staying young mentally? The answer is very simple.

Always be learning new things.

When I was a little girl, my grandfather told me, "Learn something new every day."

He lived to be 100 and followed his own advice. I've always heeded that advice too. Beware of joining the people who staunchly refuse to try new things and learn new skills. Decline and boredom are at the end of that road.

Dawn Hodges is a 76-year-old grandmother who lives in a nearby town who is a TikTok star for her cooking lessons. Sure, she heard TikTok was for kids, but that didn't deter her from learning a way to share something she loves—cooking American comfort food, Texas style. She has 218,000 followers from all over the world.

Don't know Excel? Then learn. Don't know TikTok? Then learn. Don't know how to eat with chopsticks? Then learn. Don't know how to speak Spanish? Then learn. Don't know how to change a flat tire? Then learn.

TODAY'S AMAZING WORLD

We live in a world brimming with technology that offers the chance to learn thousands of things without paying a dime.

There are many online sources from YouTube with videos that cover just about any skill you can imagine to websites like Udemy that offer thousands of skill courses free.

Udemy has over 200,000 video courses, offering design, music, photography, IT, software, business, and so much more. Yes, many of these courses do cost, but there are also thousands of free courses such as Introduction to Excel, Web Design, C++, Python, and more.

Want to know the basics of Java Script for Beginners, Time Management, Smart Goals, developing social skills, etc.? Then go to Udemy and enter a search string "free courses in whatever" and use the filters in the left sidebar to help pull up what you want. It may list paid classes first, but the left sidebar filter allows you to select free for the results.

TAKEAWAY TRUTH

I'm signing up for some of the free courses that interest me including some tech introductory courses. If I want to learn more, then I can sign up for paid courses.
