Renewal

Quote for the Week

Here in Texas, and in many states, next week is back to school time. Tired moms and dads everywhere may be excused for a certain amount of rejoicing. Whether you are a work at home parent or one who treks to an outside place of business each day, now is a good time to take a deep breath and plan for your renewal.

You made it through a long, hot summer. Rebirth is at hand for those who want to take stock of where they want to be by year's end. The kids will be in school until Christmas so this is your last stand in the battle for that which will make you feel your year was well spent. For writers, this usually means a book manuscript.

If you fell by the wayside during the summer, now is the time to renew your commitment to the work in progress.

French dramatist Eugene Ionesco said: "I believe that in the history of art and of thought there has always been at every living moment of culture a will to renewal."

Always remember my motto: "It's never too late to live happily ever after." Happily ever after, to my way of thinking, means, in great part, working at something you love.

Takeaway Truth

Rededicate. Recommit. Renew.

  1. Yes, Ionesco. renewal. I have just come from a wiki on Savonarola, who "In 1497, he and his followers went to the Piazza della Signoria, and began to burn mirrors, cosmetics, obscene pictures, pagan books, gaming tables, musical instruments, fine dresses, women’s hats, and the works of immoral and ancient poets. They also burnt paintings by some famous artists, such as Sandro Botticelli and Michelangelo. This event is now called the "Bonfire of the Vanities".[1]

and there was renewal after that.
renewal too for gorgeous TEXAN Owen Wilson who was expelled from schoolme instead of Rachel McAdam.
    God bless Texas.
Ol Possum George Jones, and Farrah Fawcett, and Holly Hunter too.

  2. well gosh darn - there was, as you can guess, a crucial clause between 'school' and 'me', which made witty sense of the whole thing.
    It got Bloggered! recap:

Owen Wilson was expelled from his Texas school, and he has had renewal and is doin alright.
I wish he was doin it with me instead of with Rachel, his co-star of the moment.
(links to blogpost on Owen. *sigh*)

I'd Waltz Across Texas with him in my arms, yessiree.

  3. Hello again, Ann! Hey, I thought Owen was renewing with Kate Hudson? That's what the gossip mill said just last week.

Gosh, if you can't believe the gossip mills, who can you believe? *LOL*

Ah, you mentioned one of my favorite songs about Texas. There are some songs that you just have to hear when you put your boots on and go kickin' in a western club. Waltz Across Texas is one. Red Neck Mother by Jerry Jeff Walker is another.

Hey, I think this just inspired a blog post. Look for it later this week.

    Best wishes,
    Joan Reeves
