(They horrified me as much as they enthralled me.) After that I became more devious about slipping it into my bookbag or under my coat.

Later I snuck books out of my parents' bedroom. I read the Mandingo books (anyone remember those?) and Harold Robbins. I still remember The Adventurers with the character DAX Diogenes Alejandro Xenos Reading is still a guilty pleasure.Larry Benjaminhttp://www.larrybenjamin.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11856692.post-13230496449308587472012-03-07T09:13:04.033-06:002012-03-07T09:13:04.033-06:00Thank you, Joan. I was in HEAVEN! But my 3rd grade teacher took away that privilege. But my mom helped with my Brownie troop, so once a week while she was socializing after the meeting, I'd run into the library and read until it was time to go home.Molly Danielshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01488325587798390008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11856692.post-8969503345769585312012-03-07T07:53:19.591-06:002012-03-07T07:53:19.591-06:00Great post, Liz! I was about 54 years old when I discovered that I can't make anyone happy but me, and that I'd better get my butt in gear and start working on my own happiness. For so many years, my focus was making everyone else in my life happy. That was when began writing again--more than just my journals, when I allowed myself the pleasure of immersing my whole being into writing.

That brought awareness of everything around me on so many levels and all my senses seemed to be heightened. Now, I try to find joy in all things--sunshine on my face, the taste of fresh pears or a juicy tangerine, the rush of wind in my hair when I ride my bike, the flow of the water when I swim, a whole day to write or to read...I missed so much for long, now I want to experience everything...Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08809913527142033733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11856692.post-45040602659483076782012-03-07T07:28:10.039-06:002012-03-07T07:28:10.039-06:00Hi, Sharon.
